Fluid Structure Interaction

Fluid Structure Interaction – Jet Scrubbing

The interaction of fluids with structures creates many engineering challenges. These include structural vibrations, structural fatigue and eventual failure, and large amounts of additional acoustic radiation. For these reasons we combine our knowledge of CFD, aeroacoustics, high performance computing, mathematics, and more to create prediction approaches for fluid structure interaction. Applications include rocket exhaust interacting with the launchpad on take-off, supersonic jets taking off from aircraft carriers, some cavity flows, and many other problems. The advantage of our approaches over other purely numerical ones is that we conduct predictions much faster and just as accurately.
